- Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel recently came together for the music video to Katy’s song, “Not the End of the World.”
- When talking about the song on Instagram Live, Katy revealed she pretended to be Zooey to get into parties.
It’s no secret that Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel are basically twins—I mean…if I didn’t know better, I’d just assume that they were separated at birth, TBH. Of course, Katy and Zooey know they look like sisters and decided to honor their uncanny resemblance with a cheeky music video for Katy’s song, “Not the End of the World,” in which extraterrestrial life forms abducted Zooey thinking she was Katy. Discussing the video in an Instagram Live together, Katy revealed that she used her resemblance to Zooey to help get into exclusive clubs, LOL.
“When I moved to L.A. maybe 18 years ago…I was pretty much a nobody, and you were like just getting so huge at that time, it was like Zooey Deschanel ran the world. In that moment, I was so complimented to look like you,” Katy explained. “But I have to admit something to you…when I first got to L.A., I went to the club. A lot. And I wanted to get into the club, but I had no money, I had no clout, I had nothing, and sometimes I would pose as you to get into the club.”

While this may be a delightful revelation to us mere mortals, Zooey was completely unfazed by Katy’s confession.
“Well, I know this,” she said, much to Katy’s dismay. “People were like ‘I saw you!’ But I’m such a goody two-shoes, and people kept going like, ‘I saw you out! I made eye contact with you!’ Then everybody kept telling me about you, ‘This girl Katy, she looks just like you,’ and I’m like, ‘Who is this Katy?’ And then when I first met you, I was so relieved because you’re so pretty, and I was like, ‘Oh, thank God. She’s so pretty,'” Zooey added.
Katy then explained that while she was partying and using Zooey’s identity to get into parties, she was “tuned up to 11,” and wild AF—aka much different than Zooey’s manic pixie dream girl image at the time. “I’m sorry if I misrepresented you,” Katy told Zooey, who took the imitation as a compliment.
